Starting a good night routine before bed will help you relax and get a good night’s sleep. Instead of watching Netflix all night long, take some of that time to soak in the tub and read some good books. Or start journaling about your day. 

If you have a good night routine, it can help you prepare for the next day. People are more productive the next day if they’ve had a good sleep. Be consistent and develop an evening ritual before bed. This will signal your body that it’s time to wind down and prepare for sleep.

Try to shut off all screens in the evening or at least 30 minutes to an hour before bed. If you’re on your computer all day, you need some time to wind down without screens and get away from the blue light.

Give yourself an oil massage

Cedarwood oil is another essential oil you can use with a diffuser. You can mix the two oils for a soothing scent in your diffuser. To aid sleep, try putting a few drops on a cloth and put under your pillow. Or use a spritz bottle and spray on dried flowers to keep your room nicely scented.

Cedarwood oil has been used to help alleviate insomnia. It has grounding properties for both the mind and body. Enjoy the calming effects this oil has to offer.


If you don’t read before bed, you’re missing out on one of the best night routines there is. Reading is relaxing and takes you away from the cares of the day. Any stress you may have in your life slips away when you get lost in a great book.

Researchers have found that if you read for just 6 minutes a day stress levels are reduced by 68%. Reading also improves your memory and increases productivity. And all this can be done with only 6 minutes a day. But once you get started reading a good novel, it’s hard to stop!

To get nice and relaxed you could start a night routine of having a nice warm bath with a few drops of relaxing lavender essential oil and soak while reading a great book. 

It’s better to read a real paper book rather than reading on your phone or a tablet. If you have to read on a tablet be sure it doesn’t have blue light (which keeps you awake).

With working all day and the stress you may have at home with all the things you have to do, it’s good to start a night routine and shake off all that stress and anxiety. We all know what stress can do to our lives. Be consistent with your night routine and develop a sleep schedule where you wake up and go to bed at the same time. This can improve your quality of sleep. Your body will get used to your routine and start to relax as you prepare for bed.

It may be hard to stick to a night routine at first. Start small and add one thing a night until it becomes a full routine. Once you start implementing the tips in this article, you will start to see the benefits of a night routine.
