Ayurveda divides the year into 3 seasons. Vata season is from late fall into early winter. We are transitioning from the Pitta season which is the hottest time of year.

Characteristics of the Vata season are dry, cold, windy, rough, and clear. The elements associated with vata are ether and air which associate with the characteristics of vata season. This season brings an excess of vata energy which can cause a vata imbalance showing itself in the form of physical or emotional disorders. If you experience dry skin, arthritis, constipation, high blood pressure, depression and anxiety, or insomnia, you may have an excess of vata energy.
