3 Healthy Habits You Need to Have

Are you waking up every single day feeling refreshed? Does your skin look soft and smooth? Do you feel lean and fit? Is your breakfast and lunch pre-prepped in the refrigerator, ready to go? Chances are that’s not happening every single day. We’re all human after all.

Habits and routines can be powerful and affect our lives in a positive way. Completing healthy habits can make you feel empowered and strong. When you have consistent, positive routines in your daily schedule, you are much more likely to have a good day all around.

It takes a little bit of work to implement new habits, but once they become habit, you’ll be amazed at the results. It’s one of my goals as a yoga instructor to encourage my students to have healthy habits outside of class and yoga practice.

3 Healthy Habits You Need to Have

There are dozens up dozens of healthy habits that you can and should work on. But I have 3 that I recommend you start with first. The more habits you work on, the happier you will be. You can view my list of suggested activities which you can read about below:



As a yoga instructor, I’m all about fitness. It’s important to fit in some activity throughout your week, in order to keep your body strong and feeling good. Consistent exercise can make you feel better physically and mentally, plus improve the quality of sleep.

Fitness doesn’t have to be scary or overwhelming, though. It’s important to find a type of fitness that works for you! I love doing yoga as my fitness, but here are a few other, unique ways you can add some fitness into your day:

  • Power walking around the neighborhood

  • Learning a dance routine off YouTube

  • Doing 1 hour of gardening

  • Going on a bike ride or a hike with your partner

The bottom line is that while exercise may not always feel pleasant, you will feel so much better after the fact. The long-term benefits can’t be beat!


When your body is dehydrated, it suffers in numerous ways. You’ll feel constant fatigue, indulge in overeating, have dry skin, and feel constipation among others. It’s not worth it for you to skip out on water.

The benefits are hydration sound much better: full body cleanse, functioning organs, supple skin, and healthy cardiovascular health. Doesn’t that sound much better? All you have to do is drink 8 ounces of water every single day!

My favorite way to stay hydrated, especially after doing my fitness for the day, is to drink some ice water with citrus essential oils, such as lemon, lime, grapefruit, or wild orange. It’s perfectly safe for you to digest essential oils.

Self Care

It’s important to do a little bit of self care every day, to keep you motivated, relaxed, and recharged throughout the week. My favorite way to destress is with a hot bath, especially if I add some lavender essential oil to the water! Aromatherapy is a huge part of my self-care routine.

Need some help with your self-care? It’s okay if you do! Here are some other ways you can add self-care into your day:

  • Write in your journal - Expressing your thoughts in feelings is a great way to let go of negative feelings and understand where they’re coming from!

  • Do a relaxing yoga routine - Muscle relaxation is calling your name!

  • Pamper yourself with an at-home manicure or facial - Seriously, you deserve some self-care and sometimes it’s as easy as freshening up your appearance!

Don’t forget to take care of yourself, okay? It doesn’t serve anyone well if you end up getting sick or exhausted!

Healthy habits can be difficult to implement in the early stages. But, if you know the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, you’ll probably try your best to work some of these habits into your daily life.
